Default Progressive fork inserts

Hi All,

I was just wondering from those of you with first hand experience if the Progressive fork inserts were worth the money over just a standard fork rebuild? Did they make a difference?

Thanks

Are you referring to the entire spring or some sort of insert?

I replaced the stock springs in both Sportster and Wide Glide. Made Yugh difference. Good bang for the buck.
But the Progressive Springs are denser. They will raise your fork oil level. I syphoned out 1 ounce. Still a little stiff but thats the way I ride.
1.5 - 2.0 ouncee for a plusher ride

OP, are you referring to 'cartridges '? Those are commonly used to sort out suspension issues.

I had the progressive cartridges installed on my dyna with 444 rears and alloy art stabilizer’s. The cartrige set is better than stock, how much? Hard to say. I did not have much of a brake dive problem with the stock set up so no gain there. I don’t have to change fork oil, that’s a plus I guess. They are externally adjustable. The bike handles great with the set up I am running. Not a night and day difference but I want my my bike to handle the best it can so I would do it again if that bridge came.

I put the progressive monotubes in my Softail. I definitely can tell the difference in brake dive. They come with 2 spacers that you can install, but I think you have to use at least 1. You only need 5 oz. of fork oil in each tube for lubrication. For $225 I think it is money well spent. I really need to upgrade my rear shocks next. Then I think I will really get the full benefits of the front shocks.

Depends on how much you're willing to spend.

I put the Progressive monotubes in my '90. They are nice. Big improvement over stock.

But they aren't the gold standard. If you want that (and are willing to pay), then you're talking custom made Ohlins inserts.

I have them installed in my FLHS a few weeks now. Huge difference for me ride is much firmer on smooth roads but I feel the pot holes much less now. Glade I did it, not a hard job installing them your self, well worth the money. A very good upgrade.

I've mentioned this before but the single best mod for my bike was getting a matched pair of progressive suspension...monotubes in front and 442's in the rear. I you like riding briskly in the twisties...they are for you.

I just put progressive springs in my 98 Heritage. Less than $90. Huge improvement in ride quality.
