The fuel tank is not as big an issue for me as a seat. The stock seat was like sitting a bed of nails. I put on a HD spring solo and it is better but still about a 70 mile at a time thing. Does anyone have any seat suggestion that will not ruin the bobber style look of the bike and deals with butt discomfort?
I ordered a low profile seat from Sick Saddles and should have it next week so will keep you posted.
Well, I pulled the trigger and guess what, after I got home I found oil leaking from underneath the head on the left side front cylinder.
Its in the shop now, I'm feeling pretty disappointed.

That sucks! My buddy bought a new Fatboy and found an oil leak the first day. It turned out to just be a loose hose.
I had a 2010 48 witch has the same tank. I took that bike from new jersey all through the blue ridge mountains on the skyline drive and loved every minute of it. As long as you plan your trips ensuring gas stations are readily available you can take that 2.1 anywhere you want. I also said had a 48 that is because I have since sold it and got the big red flake 72! Don't worry on the leak it'll get fixed and you will be rolling.
Yes, please post a report on the Sick Saddles seat and post pix if you can. Even better PM me. I am struggling with the seat issue. I have looked at the Sick Saddles web site and am researching harleyseats.com also. Any info would be appreciated.

Here's a pic of the seat I ordered. I'm hoping to have it when I get back in town next week.
I've had my eye on the 72 as well, but I am very nervous about that tank size. Now, I'm not sure if it's possible (though I don't see why it wouldn't be, the frames and tank mounts have got to be identical) but I had the idea of getting the flat black model and just ordering the 3.3gal flat black tank off of a iron and throwing it on there.
Anyone have any experience with this/actually asked a knowledgeable sales guy? (The ones in my town all talk ****, 10% of which is true, then try to sell you something way more expensive)
I like it a lot but I had to drill out the rear mounting bracket to get it on there properly...the way it came, I had to lock my legs in front of the rear signals in order to shove it far enough forward to line up the screw. Hopefully yours won't have that issue

I hope not. Did you tell Ed about the issue? I would think he'd want to know so he could get the holes properly aligned for future 72 customers.

I looked into it and it actually costs more to get the 3.3 tank from Harley than it does the 4.5 tank, go figure. Ebay or maybe someone who wants to swap for the smaller tank on this forum is probably your best option. For me, I'm going to stick with the 2.1. It looks sweet, and I usually want to get off after 90 miles to stretch.
