Headlight install question
Try to be a litle more specific as to what light is not working. Are you saying the running lights do not work, or are you saying the headlights do not work?
Tell us specifically what the new headlight wire diagram reads.
1. What color wire is used for headlight Lo?
2. What color wire is used for headlight high?
3. What color wire is used for running lights?
4. What color wire is used for right turn signal?
5. What color wire is used for left turn signal?
You are correct regarding the wire colors coming from your bike via the connectors.
White = headlight Hi, yellow = headlight Lo, black = common/ground, violet = left turn signal feed, brown = right turn signal feed, and blue is the + Pos feed from 15 amp lights fuse.
Once you provide a clearer, at least for me, info on what wires are attached to the new headlight, it should be easy to get it working. One note of caution, you indicate that the turn signals and running lights are L.E.D.'s, you have to make sure you wired them with correct polarity in mind. If the wires are reversed, L.E.D.'s will not light. They are polarity sensitive.
nc883 gives good advice when he recommends using a test light if you don't have a multimeter. You can make one by using a spare turn signal bulb with two wire leads soldered to it. Connect one to ground and use the other one to probe your wiring. It will light when you have a feed.
I plan to take pics and document best I can everything I do installing this so others folks have an easier time of it. I assume other people are as apprehensive of pulling/cutting wires as I am. Especially when the better half says no more toys for a while and if i screw it up, I will quickly take it to a professional to fix it. That means I'll spend money when I am not supposed to!! Man I hate the whole being a grown-up-stick-to-a-budget thing...
