I have a brand new sportster 48 with 135 miles on it, and if I ride it every day no sound. If I let it sit for 3 or 4 days, 0000eeeeOO00! That was my first guess, fuel pump pressurizing.
Okay, so at least I'm not the only one who has heard this when their sportster has been sitting for a week. I've owned many fuel injected vehicles and the fuel pump never made a whistling sound like that.

Yeah, mine did the same thing, especially if it's been sitting in the garage for several days. I have a 2012 custom, and I was worried for a little bit when I heard it for the first time, but when it started ok, I figured it was the pump just doing its thing.
