The truth be told that riding in the cold is not my honest cup of tea. Oh yes, I've done it often. I enjoyed it, yes. But in all honesty, if it were my last ride ever and, if it were all the memory I ever had of riding, it would not be an enjoyable one. That being said, to those brave souls that dare to be different, go forth and ride. And, ride safe. Riding at any time is a full attention getter, be even more aware of the additional hazards of riding in the winter.
If it raining and less than 40 or I'm sick, I wont ride. Other than that, I ride every day even down into the 20's, which is about as cold as it gets around here.
If it's above 25 and NOT raining, or snowing, I'll ride. I've only missed about6 days all winter. I don't ride as much, or as far, as I would in warmer weather, but it's rare that I don't throw a leg over sometime during the day. I did get a bit cold last night. It wasn't really that cold, I think it was about 32 as I returned home. But I had dressed in the afternoon with the sun shining, temps in the mid 40's, and didn't intend to be out after sundown, so I wasn't quite dressed for the temp drop after sunset. Particulary the portion of the ride that took me past the lake I live by.The wind coming off the water was bitter, while wearing only my half helmet. Guess I need to grow a beard.
Well just like they predicted it was 35 degrees this morning and I rode into work. I didn't get too cold asI had a bandana around my face. Like I predicted I got some funny looks, a woman damn near had a wreck looking over at me while making a left hand turn in front of me.
Gonna be leaving work here in about 15 minutes and the temp is 38 so it will actually be slightly warmer on the trip home.
When I rode with 8 other buddies the other night, it was 40. Most of us were fine but because he thought it looked cool, my 25 year old buddy rode with no helmet fingerless gloves and pants with holes. He froze his *** off! I was pretty warm.lol!!
It's hard to be "cool" when all you can say is "Sh-sh-sh-sh-i-i-i-i-b-b-b-t-t-th."[&:]
well i rode in this morning too..it was around 30º i have harley face mask and i made sure i was wearing it..it wasnt all that bad..the only looks i had were from the guys at work they think im nuts..oh well i guess they just dont understand(none of them have bikes)
