What is the difference between 99 and 2000 wheels?
Title says it all. I've got a 2000 sporty, and need a second set of wheels. I see 99 down wheels all the time, what is the difference between them? I think they both use 3/4" axles, is there a different bolt pattern for the rotors and pulleys? Different hub width? What?
2000 and later have sealed wheel bearings, basically no maintenance. On 99 and earlier you need to pull and repack the bearings about every 10,000 miles. Everything else is the same.

I don't believe they are the same! Wheels with ball bearings have a larger diameter bearing housing, so the hole in the centre of rotors and pulley are larger. '99 rotors will not fit a '00 wheel. '00 rotors will fit a '99 wheel, but the hole in the centre being bigger will not locate them correctly.
Repacking tapered bearings is pretty easy. On my old '90 Evo my wheel bearings are original and still fine. On my '08 Buell I had to replace my 'sealed' bearings at the same time as the original tyres, because they were shot, at just a few thousand miles!
