Dont limit yourself to an Iron (though I like them). The difference in all the sportsters are basically cosmetic, their size and weight are about the same. Different tires, different tanks, different bars, different shocks, different peg position............but still basically the same bike.
wow you guys got some sweet bikes...cant wait to buy mine but does anyone own a iron 883? just want to know how they handle and what not ive heard the *** end bounces alot on bumps
Why don't you want to test drive the 883? Thousands of 883's are bought every year as a first Harley. I'm sure you could make it work, but I'd test drive any bike before buying it. If your afraid of taking a new bike out you could ask if they have any used ones you could go out on instead.
i want to buy my first Harley rode sport bikes my whole life and want something different so im thinking about buying a harley. im 5'1 130 lbs so i know im little, but was wondering if anyone thought of the 2013 iron 883 for a first harley. i can touch the floor but not flat footed but with a few mods im sure i can just wanted others thoughts or other options. any imput will help
Sounds like a great choice, but head to a dealership + give one a whirl. You're obviously an experienced rider, you'll know if it's what you want. Personally, love my 883 Hugger, it's raw, pure, classic motorcycle in it's finest form.
affraid to test drive it only cause im use to laying on the tank of a bike to ride not sitting back...im sure its not much different just same concept of riding just way heavier and awkward to me. im going to go tomorrow and order my bike, and test ride one but im sure ill love it it felt really weird sitting on it but it was a good weird and the rumble even with stock pipes was awesome. dont know why i didnt buy a harley instead of a sports bike for my first bike

So you're not afraid to test ride, just afraid to ride? Get your license, take the safety course, test ride a bike, THEN decide if you want it.
