With the lowering blocks, you'll keep the longer shocks, which gives you more travel before they bottom out. The replacement shorter shocks in that kit will bottom out with less travel...if that makes sense. At your weight, it probably does not matter.

You might look into a different seat too. I don't know if they are any less comfortable, but there are low profiles seats out there.

I just went from a rocket to an iron 883, and this may sound funny, but I don't find a big difference in the handling. I sit up high on the rocket, and the iron is top heavy, which I found comparable to the rocket. I was use to the weight distribution. If you ride a rocket, you can ride an iron. Don't be afraid of it. I was concerned and find the iron to be very easy to ride. The iron rides to me like a semi sport bike with a cruise body. Thats the way it feels to me, this surprised me. I am a 5' 1" female, and I have no problem sitting this bike.
