gyms are full of jackass's and thats coming from someone who used to work in multiple!
I always park as far away from every other car no matter where I go.
and a sidenote: I never understood why people were always so concerned about parking close when they go to the gym to workout... Why make it easier to go put your body through physical activity? Would make more sense to park farther away to get even more of a workout!
go no fender... Unless you have a mid/wide glide it won't make much of a difference unless you're really hauling *** around turns and if so, get a brace. Licks has one for pretty cheap :icon_arrow http://www.lickscycles.com/catalog/a...tion=1&x=0&y=0
and if you don't like it fenderless, there are plenty of options out there for pretty cheap.
I once had some dumb bitch with no less than 5 kids in her minivan bump into my Vespa and cause it to come off its stand and fall over. After she bumped it she and her many kids came out of the minivan to try and lift it back onto the stand. People are stupid...not much you can do about that.
Bummer. I either park up next to the building right next to the door and bike racks (common practice here at most larger stores) or I park at the end (away from the curb) of the parking spot so that my bike is even with the rear of other vehicles. I never park up next to the curb. While I have never hit one, more than once in a cage I started to whip into an open spot to find someone put a bike right next to the curb where it wouldn't be seen until I already started to pull into the spot. It's especially irritating when there is only one other spot left and someone takes it while your backing back out of a spot that appeared from a distance to be empty. Maximize visibility just like you would on the road. This doesn't excuse it but the fact is that many people do not always check as well as they should.
To paraphrase the words of the immortal movie Dumb and Dumber..."Find him and kick his a$$ sea bass!!!" lol. That sucks though man. I hope this brings a reason to do something awesome with your bike!!! Turn it into a positive!!!
Sucks the bike got hit, I always try to park where my bike can been see from a distance. Take the front feder off and see how it rides. If you don't ride in the rain then you will be just fine. Also I have never heard that the shape of the front fender helps with the cooling process.
If your scoot was hit hard enough to shove it back up onto the curb, I'd be checking the forks too. Going without a fender is ok if you like your bike getting pelted by road grime while you ride.
