Post <Oil Pump Upgrade>
I've got a 1992 Sportster 1200, and I have read that if you upgrade your oil pump to one that scavanges more, there wont be a problem with carry over from the head breathers. If this is true, what Pump Upgrades are available for a 1200 EVO that would suit my needs. I mean I realize you can route your breathers ot a catch can or something of that sort, but I would rather eliminate the problem totally and keep all my oil inside my bike!

Ok thanks I will have to look into that! Are those Umbrella Valves hard to get to? Or would that be a sorta simple fix?

So considering the only post in the thread that had useful information is gone.... Does anyone remember what bike had the better pump?

07 and later Sporty oil pumps have better scavenging.

wiil the newer pump fit in the older solid mount sportsters???

If I remember correctly, the upgrade was to switch to an oil pump from a Buell motor.

Yes, the Buell oil pumps also have higher scavenging as well as the 07 later Sporty oil pumps.
