Weird Question..
my question is can i mod a sporters 1200 custom to look like
a nightster or iron?/
I am 5 11 weigh 250 and still losing but everyone keeps telling
me the iron is too small and i need at least the custom 1200
i really dont like the looks of the custom and want the look of the
iron or nightster
Have any of you customized a 1200 sportster to look like the iron
or is that even possible
the main thing i dont like is the handlebars and the seat
can i put an iron handlebar and seat on the 1200 custom?
Thankyou in advance

I can spread out more on my '98 883-1200 w/highway pegs than I can on my FXRT - and the FXRT is a bigger bike.
I'd offer this humble suggestion: Ride a bunch of bikes, and get the one that suits you best, no matter what label or model it is. Any machines w/two wheels and an engine is cool - and noone else can tell YOU what suits YOU best.
Getting a custom model to look like an Iron would be a challenge. Just way too much blacking out to do to make it worthwhile. If you like a bike don't worry what anyone says. I know more than a few 1%ers ride Sportsters and have no problem keepin' up.

- lower primary gearing (I wore a hole in a boot from looking for another gear)
- small fuel tank
- narrow glide front end
Reasons to use the HD-1 program to order a blacked out 1200 Custom:
- any bars you want
- any seat you want
- better gearing for highway
- fat front tire is better for highway
- 4.5 gallon tank
- many Sportster haters won't even know it's a Sportster
