Question Primary oil level dropped?

When I got my Nightster it had 1,900 mi on it. At 2,200 I did a full service with Mobile 1 V-Twin. I then did it again at 5,000 mi. I am now at almost 8,000 mi. and went to adjust the clutch and noticed that my primary was 1/4-1/3 qt. low. I hadn't noticed it ever being low before...I don't have any leaks or drips except for the occasional wet / dirty clutch cable leaving the primary which is few and far between.

Any idea where it could have went? I can't imagine I just forgot to top it off, though I guess it's possible. Ever seen this before?

I can't see losing much, maybe just needs to drain out a little longer, some still in the gearbox and clutch hub? 1/4 qt (8 oz) is not much that could still be clinging to stuff inside.

I always fill as much as possible, then have the OL sit on it at an angle so I can put the cover back on...this time I just topped off as best I could by myself and put the cover back and it still held that much extra. Thanks man.

After topping this off and running it another 1,000 mi. I noticed that I had some oil building up from where it had been puking out of the transmission vent hose back near the starter. I cleaned it all up again and figure it's just an auto leveling feature.
