My wife likes everything about her Superlow except the footpegs. She says that lift up with her boot when she is shifting or braking. They also seem way too wide to me and appear to get in the way. She wants them replaced, but there is nothing I can find by HD that has an offset mount like the stock pegs. The offest mount places the peg down and back from the frame mount; replacement pegs all extend straight out. In other words the replacements would put her foot that much closer to the shifter and brake pedal, taking away precious space that she already says is tight.
Ideas?
I have come up with:
1) Forward controls- don't think she will like them
2) Get a machine shop to manufacture an offset mount to attach to the HD replacment pegs-probably expensive
3) Go with replacements and somehow move the shifter and brake forward slightly to maintain adequate space for her boot- probably doable but somewhat involved
4) Hope one of you knows of a good aftermarket option- my favorite
There is a Superlow owner on this forum that put a HD OEM peg on his wife's bike. He has pictures and part numbers. Just search for Superlow and pegs and it should come up. I have forward controls on my Superlow and just love them. I am 5'1" talk so if your wife is taller, she should consider them. When I put my foot down with the shock pegs I almost dropped my bike because my pant leg got caught on the peg.
EDIT: Look for SuperLow Owners Meeting Place! tread for information.

I agree they are too wide and have thought about modifying mine. I have also looked at other Sporty versions and noticed some have pegs that might be better. I took those stupid spikes off, as they are a real danger just walking around the bike in the garage!
Lonnie, I never ride with flapping trousers (I wear my 'pants' under them!).
Ditto- HD mini floorboards mid controls and highway pegs. Forward controls did not work for me as I wound up in a clamshell position that was uncomfortable on longer rides. Also put a longer shift peg and adjusted the gap and bigger brake pad on so I don't have to lift my feet.

Keod- When you say you adjusted the gap, what do you mean?
The mini floorboards are not offset like the stock pegs so it brings the foot up higher-closer to the shift peg. I have thick soled boots so it was a very tight fit to get the toe of the boot between the two. The fix was simple, loosen the footpeg mount and rotate upwards a bit.
