Default Oil cooler

What the best oil cooler for a xl1200c ? Also if I use one will my oil pump be strong enough for the extra volume? I definitely don't want any problems from oil staving

None, IMO
Like the radiator in your car, they only really work if you're moving air through them.
Unless you live in the desert, Sporties don't really overheat unless you're stuck in traffic, and then you don't have air flow anyway.
Oil cooler lines and connections are another source of potential oil leaks.

First off, why do you think your Sporty needs an oil cooler? No need to add mechanical parts that can fail down the line.

There are 12v laptop fans that people have attached to their oil coolers to increase airflow while in stop and go traffic.

Jagg makes Sportster specific oil coolers. The extra volume is minimal and doesn't effect the oil pressure or operation of the motorcycle.

I am in NW Mississippi, and we get some pretty warm weather here 6-7 months a year.

I run a 6 row Jagg oil cooler, and it definitely helps...is it absolutely necessary, nope, but I'd rather keep my oil down below 240, and that was not happening on sustained high speed rides in 100+ temps.

Jagg coolers produce negligible extra load on the oil pump.

I live in FL with long hot summers, and with a good synthetic oil, I've yet to see my temps go above 225-230. With the breakpoint of synthetic oil being 350+*, there's really not much to worry about.

Now, if you're running a fossil oil with a 250* breakpoint, that's another story.

After 1st 1000 miles, the only oils I've run in this 09 883 are Royal Purple and Redline. Tried a variety of tuners, with diff AFR's and ignition settings.

When I get on the interstate, 1 up or 2 up, after 45-60 minutes at 75-85 mph oil temps would start heading north of 260 (measured at the tank, so it was hotter in the engine). Actually did not even have to be 100*, even in the 90's it would do that.

No pinging, put it on the sniffer multiple times, AFR was good.

Same results stock and stage 1.

I know the engine and the oil will "handle" it. I just am more comfortable seeing the oil down closer to 200*.

I run a oil cooler and THERMOSTAT it helps keep the motor cool in the summer i rarely see temps over 240!!! most of the time 2up in california on the hwy... running 75mph it hovers around 200 deg.. very even temps. I would run one if you are planning on ridding alot of hwy and live in a hot area... and also have a FULL complete stage 1 (A/C pipes carb rejet, ignition advance) other than that on a stock bike (sportster) you dont need it!

and yes i have a "parade" fan that i zip tie on there for toy runs... ect...

Which fan is that and how did you wire it up?

It's a xbox360 fan I use it in good weather and it plugs into my plug for my battery tender. It works well when stopped in a parade.
