What's the best springs for the price? Opinions welcome...I'm 200 and my wife is 125. I ride everyday by myself...she rides with me on the weekends usually. I have a '13 72. Not looking to really lower or raise by much. Thanks guys!
not the best for the price, but the best if you can afford them are the works performance. hand made for your weight- had mine made for a range of weights from mine alone to mine + my +2. very easy to adjust when i need to change the setting. and these shocks ride the way the bike should have always ridden. never bottom out and always comfy.
changed out the front shock oil to a weight in between stock and the screaming eagle weight (i had tried the screaming eagle but it was too stiff).
air shocks are a good inexpensive choice. you can take them off of a big twin-
that plus they (works performance shocks) look like cleaned up stockers... not a big change in appearance, but a good change- these are an inch longer than stock (to make sure the bike doesnt bottom out)
----you can see the lever that adjusts the shock settings in this pic too. very easy to adjust and no tools needed.
Can't speak from experience but can give you my plan so far after looking and looking into this subject. I'll most likely go with progressive but which ones I'm not sure yet. It definitely will not be their cheapest set, probably the next set up (the contrast cut), but maybe the expensive set with that little extra chamber thing... Good better best. How much you want to spend?
If money was absolutely no object I would probably go something super expensive. I think this is one of them things the more you spend the more you'll like, but how much is worth the trade off?
Not looking to spend a butt load. Just looking for a little bit more of a smoother ride. 2 deployments and two bombs made my back a little edgy on long rides. Just looking for a little better ride. I looked into the road king air shocks but everyone says for my size I won't notice a difference. +2 yeah, id notice. But I do sooo much alone riding I want something I'll notice a decent difference.

I come in just under 200 and the difference between the stockers and the RK air shocks is NIGHT & DAY.
The problem when looking at new shocks is that their performance is directly related to price. There are plenty of 'affordable' shocks that will be better than a worn out pair, but to get a significant improvement in ride quality really needs a decent investment!
