wire tuck problem

Also, I might open the connection where you said there's a grey wire connected to an orange wire and see what happens, because I find it unusual in factory wiring to go from one color wire on one side to another color wire on the opposite side of a comman connector. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Okay sorry ,my manual only goes to 2003.
But i think that orange wire is your break light,and the brown and purple are your signals.
You could cut the orange and grey and use a test light to find what each wire is.

i never read anywhere about cutting the connectors im sure it makes the tuck easier to do but why cut them?

If you do use butt connectors use the heat shrink ones they seal the connection with this goo that hardens. Use them on the fire trucks we build at where I work. They work awesome and no issues and on a fire truck the wires are always wet.

Thanks chap. the wire connectors are huge and although it may be possible to do with them, i choose to make it without them. i am not doing a tank lift so it is tight. i planned on sealing the connectors before its finished. it sucks on one hand but on the other i am learning my bike in and out. no biggie

Found it! it was in my new head light. hd has a orange_white wire that in the plug goes to nothing. i was trying to hook it to a ground. but it did get a service manual
