Motorcycles have blind spots? Does your neck not work? Mine works overtime when I ride, looking for the blue haired old lady and soccer mom's trying to run over me. I recommend you get yours stretched out and limbered up before you truly get killed.

Um, the blue hair comment was humor, and just so you know, I use my neck all the time checkin' mirrors and my surroundings, and I always turn my head just to be sure and as a visual cue to those in the lane that I am pulling into before I enter the lane. I guess I'm really just trying to justify spending money on another doo-dad ;-)

I've seen them on some crochet rockets with both front & rear camera's but never on a Harley, and they just did that so they put it on you-tube . Good luck with that.

You just owned his ***. I dont think its worth it, unless you have a suuuuper quality camera which is a waste of money. You don't wanna spend any more time having your eyes off the road infront of you anyways. Or what about when it rains, you won't see crap.

I once failed to notice a cop chasing after me on a BMW with his light flashing - man, he was not happy when I finally saw him and pulled over...

I replaced my small underbar mirrors after that episode with black stock mirrors but my arms are still in the way with the short stems. Not too keen on longer ones though or bar end mirrors because they increase my width and therefore my ability to lane split.

So to me the idea of having a small camera on the back of the bike with a monitor below the instruments does not sound too crazy. I guess the question is how large a display would you need for it to be of any use and would you be able to see anything in bright sunlight?

I'd like a windshield wiper and a rear window defroster.

Cripes, some of you guys really need to get over yourselves!! Legitimate safety concerns/points taken and other viewpoints appreciated, along with the humor. However I didn't think I'd meet with so much resistance, ie., the taking your eyes off the road commentary; flipped mirrors do just that, no[?] yet most seem to flip their mirrors from stock, including myself. Does it take a fraction of a second longer to see what's alongside/behind you and does it take your eyes off the road for a longer amount of time compared to the stock mirror location[?], yes, but yet this seems to be "acceptable." Interesting. Considering a handlebar mounted display would be higher on the bike than the flipped mirrors, this is somehow more of a detriment than flipped mirrors? Boulderdash. Are some people just afraid of technology, does it make you less of a "Sportster" man, afraid of being compaired to a ricer, or what?!

Anyway thanks again for the replies and viewpoints, I knew I would get an ecclectic array of responses, gotta' love this place!

Hey, cool off dude, I asked about installing a "black box" car cam that sees front and back, well the Chit I got from that man... whew. I did it and it works great for all the bone heads out there who wait at stop signs for a biker to pull out in front of, cutting ya off, ya know ! ! !

As for cops, they usually cant keep up with a decent bike, I got chased for about 4 miles once when late for work (clocked at 75 in a 30), if I didn't know the guy I wouldn't of stopped, but as I worked at Steak & Shake he was going to follow me straight to work. LEt them do and say what they want but law is the law man.

Point here is you can and as most true bikers will tell you, "its your ride man" so do what works for you.

PS: Adding this wont void $hit.

Keep it off the paint...

.

Maybe an auto-erection compensator or a electromagnetic fly-opener.
From your sig-pic it looks like you could use one.

I would hope you wouldn't get run over by a blue hair. If you do, you may need to check to make sure your throttle is working, haha.

It could be cool, but there has to be a better spot to mount it than on your bars. Otherwise it sounds like your PV and RVC are going to look like mirrors on your bike anyways. If you do it, find a cool way to incorporate it to clean up your hand controls.
