Default Sportster Superlow vs CA

Hello everyone!
I am going to buy an Harley!
But, i am with doubts!!
I am choosing between the 883 Superlow and the XL1200CA.
Big difference is: the price! Superlow is 10000 euros and XL1200CA is 13000 euros. There is a 3000 euros of difference!
Motor: i am going to ride mostly in city, not at big velocity and some weekends a ride with my wife. Is 883 enough or is it better de 1200, for this?
Confort: the XL1200CA comes with an original two seat. I think that the passenger seat is not as confortable as one that i can mount in the Superlow, that brings an individual seat. What is your opinion?
Confort 2: tires and suspension. in XL1200CA tires are bigger, so more confortable. Is it true? And is there any difference in the suspensions of both Harleys?

So, for the difference of 3000 euros... does it conpensates the XL1200CA?

Hope to hear from you soon!

See ya

For the difference (3000 euro = $3960 USD) I say you're making the right choice. You can but a 1200 conversion kit for under $1000 USD/757 euro) and then you're good to go. Let us know how the bike purchase goes - good luck!

Hello!
I have hear about that conversion kit. But i have to add instalation costs and a kit dynojet, right?
Appart of motors, in confort, are both the same?
And what about the size and position of driving? In both, the position of the legs is similar?

Hi Joao, from the UK.

Let us think this through! I have a SuperLow and only ride it solo. The engine is fine and I love it. Being an engineer I would love to fit a 1250 kit, but will keep that for another day. For the use you intend, it will be fine. But there are other things to think about.

The Custom models are low and have very little suspension. I have modified mine to improve ride quality, but it is still poor. Put two on it and as supplied new I think two of you will soon discover you are not very comfortable. The dual seat on the Custom is not that hot either.

So in my opinion which ever bike you buy you may find comfort is more important than performance! There are plenty of threads on here about seats, with the Sundowner and Mustang very popular for riding comfort, especially 2-up.

Something our North American friends cannot buy is the 883R Roadster. Have you considered one of them? They come with higher ride height, better suspension, twin front rotors and all the stuff that will make riding 2-up more pleasant. All you may need for one of them is a good seat, like a Sundowner.

The CA is very nice, it might just be worth the difference to you.

Hello!
I don't like the 883R because the front tyre is very thin, just like in Iron and in Nightster.
The XL1200CA is a special edicion!

Price and confort... the two items i need to solve to choose my harley!!! Waiting for more opinions!!

I have a 1200L (i.e. Low, not SuperLow); it doesn't have the fat tyre like the latest Custom. I feel that my front end would handle potholes better if it had a fat tyre in front. I hope you go for the XL1200CA if only just for the fat front tyre. Just don't get a bike that, forever after, you'll be wishing it had a fat front end (it's an extensive modification).

With respect to the rear shocks, I replaced mine with roadster shocks that I bought on ebay. And as grbrown pointed out, now I have better suspension travel. You too can easily change the suspension on the XL1200CA.

HTH.
