Try a different seat. My god that one has a foot of padding LOL. Had a sundowner on mine when I bought it. Felt very high and uncomfortable picked up a old stock seat that lowered me by about 2 inchs and so much better. Keep the Sofa seat for highway runs.

That's where I'm at with it as a reduction in seat height may be just what you're looking for. Is it simply an issue of feet flat on the ground or are you trying to adjust the look of the ride height? I would highly recommend not doing anything to reduce the travel of the suspension if you can help it, as these bikes are seriously lacking in that department already. I've run racing bikes with 1/4" foam for a seat and they were more comfortable than my stock H-D with it's low, undersprung, underdamped suspension. That's just me though, your experience may be different.

I want my feet flat on the ground. i don't care if it looks low or not. All about comfort. Actually you should always keep one foot up( old biker syndrome ). I always keep my left up for kicking it into gear. Front brake while your at the light. Depending on terrain of course. San Francisco comes to mind. Then you may need an anchor or two feet down. Nothing more uncomfortable than the tippy toe thing when at a stop. I am looking for a new solo seat. I know the seat that came with it is couch quality but I just bought this bike and it took all of my savings.

I have a 2003 883r and I had it lowered. Make sure if you lower the rear end, that you also lower the front end. My fork tubes were slid down 1"

Lowering your ride height won't affect comfort, more likely reduce it. We spend most of our time moving while riding a bike, not stopped! It's rather like riding a pedal bike - saddle height should be adjusted for comfort while riding.

I have a 1" lowering kit with Licks 10" shocks and dropped the front 2" at the trees and I made the seat with about 1" of padding...I'm 5'-8" and weigh 175 lbs so I don't need a lot of travel on my suspension....I don't use this bike for long trips, most riding is about 2-3 hours long but I can't complain about the ride it's not bad at all....

Thanks Guys. I'm going to get a new seat and go from there. I live in the Atlanta, Ga. area and unless you are in the mountains or on the freeway it's a lot of stop and go. Been riding on and off since I was 14 and I prefer to put one foot down and keep the other on the peg. The only time I put two down is when a passenger got on or off. I removed the passenger pegs and will be getting a solo seat. No riders.

Thanks for the advice and many thanks to Bryan83taco for sending me his stock solo seat which he replaced with a different one. Now the bike sits right. All I need now are some black bars and risers to get the bars to the right position and I'll be set.
