Wild: the exhaust looks pretty good and I saw the video you made some time back and they sound extremely good my question is: the pipes run very close to the ankle when using forward controls, now I'm sure in cooler setting this would not be an issue but what about in warmer weather do they heat or overheat the ankle?
The heatshields provide pretty good heat protection...
The d&d fat cats are the best performing pipes out there and have a great warranty as well! .If you are looking for performance and volume hands down best pipe.
The Thunderheader is the deepest souding exhaust I've ever heard. Styling is a subjective call. Check YouTube for a sound track for this and other pipes.
I've got SE II slip ons on my 06 883. Too muffled. So I gutted the baffles and put torque cones in the top end of the exhaust to keep the power. Too LOUD !!! After a lot of lookin and studyin, I purchased the DK Customs 158W Thunder Torque Inserts. Easy to install and gave me the sound I was lookin for. And coupled with the torque cones, I have plenty of power. From idle to wide open, the bike sounds great. And I probably have just over $50.00 in the entire upgrade. And I recycle !!!-gave my buddy who runs a Fat Boy Lo the SE II baffles. His son gutted his Rush mufflers cause they were too quiet. His 96 cu in was screamin loud.....so much so it was hard to follow him to close. After his neighbors complained of being rocked out of bed by them when he started it up, he put my SE IIs baffles in his bike and they sound great. They sucked in my sporty, but with his big engine they sound awsome.
Here is a sound comparison... Remember though, I only recorded this with an iphone from about 20 feet behind, so it doesn't do full justice. - Click here for audio sample
