Primary Whine
2007 Nightster. I have a whining sound in the primary during deacceleration. Sounds like the chain is too tight, but it isn't. Replaced the clutch hub bearing, but no difference. Does that mean crank bearing?

It may not have anything to do with your problem, but 30,000 - 40,000 miles is the typical life expectancy for the shoe. More or less depending on how you keep the chain adjusted and ride.
If you don't know what a new shoe looks like, you might not realize how much yours is worn. They aren't that expensive. I replace mine anytime the shoe has 20,000+ miles on it and I have a need to pull the primary case.
