I just installed my supper brace and it was very difficult. The 2 pieces did not fit over the forks till i tightend down the bolts. When I cranked it to 10 ft lbs it left a gap betweem the 2 peicesthat is about 2 or 3 mm wide. Is this normal for superbraces?
Well I just remembered that I had the forks powder coated so that's why they're tight, but now I am wondering what could over tightening do? Theyres a thin layer of oil on the forks where they go into the lower forks No drips, just a light coat.
The superbrace website claims they make it very specific, so maybe they have just a slight difference between braces for a bike that is factory powder coated and one that is not. Mine wasn't originally powder coated. also the gap between the two pieces is about 1 mm.
Doesn't look correct to me.
Super Brace seems to have a good rep and to make superior parts.
Yet, parts are parts and some can have a quality control issue.
Why not e-mail them the picture?
Or, to insure it it not the brace, remove your front wheel, loosen your triple clamp pinch bolts and reinstall. See if something (triple clamp, forks, axle, etc) is out of alignment or bent.
