i currently have an 06 Sportster 1200C. i to the local dealer the other day to look at street glides but i am a short guy and the SG just didn't fit me right. i love the way my Sportster fits me but also like the way the SG looks. what i am thinking about doing is getting bags and fairing like the SG has. has anyone done this before and can will bags off SG fit, what needs modified, etc.

If you want to solve your situation, rent a Heritage for a day and ride. You'll have a bike that fits you, a bagger and the best ride you can find for a reasonable price. It will be the last bike you will want to buy. Period.
I agree. Any of the FL Softails: Heritage, Deluxe, Fat Boy...

Please, "Just Say No" to loading up your sporty. Did you ride the SG? It is a well-balanced bike that you will grow comfortable with easily. Or as another has noted ... try a Heritage Softail. Both of these bikes can be lowered to fit.
I put some ridged mounted bags on mine... a sissy bar with a rack and a windshield all stuff i found on ebay or local CHEEP! bike runs great on the hwy and i have a "custom" so i have the 4.5 gal tank!
There are plenty of touring styled Sporties in here, even a few threads all about them. Harley make some lovely colour-coordinated hard bags for Sporties that are worth looking at, which with a touring seat and windshield will get you close to an RK, rather than an SG. They also make a wide variety of soft or soft-look bags, then there are plenty of after-market ones to choose from. Be assured there are plenty of us out here doing much the same!
