Securing fork boots?

Question Securing fork boots?
So quick question...

I'm putting on some for boots / gaiters / whatever you want to call them.

I know that I'm "Supposed" to use a zip tie to secure them to the top and bottom of the fork area...
why?

They are sitting there great, will obviously move and let the fork compress.
Why zip tie them? It's not like they're coming off.

Those fork gaiters nowadays are for the looks, but initially, on older bikes, they were put to avoid having water or dust into the fork seals...

Do what suits you, anyway...
