Default starting problem

So about 1 in every 5 times I start the bike this happens: I push to start and nothing, turn it all off then on, push and it chugs ans pops, third try it starts. Any ideas? Its and 07 883 and I am running a shorai battery if that matters

have you checked your ground to the bike side to make sure it is tight? are both battery connections tight? did you check voltage at the battery with nothing on and then turn key on to check what the difference is? is the wire on the starter tight and the starter tightened down really good?

just a few things to check

The battery connections are a good start. They're notorious for coming loose. Also, on the 2007's you may want to check the fuse box under the left cover. They are known to get moisture in them and corrode, which can cause problems.

I second the battery connections.
Had all the electrics on my bike go out yesterday when I was right about to head out.
Almost went ape ****, then I thought about checking my connections and they were both super loose. Tightened them and everything went back to normal.

I had the same problem on my 08, they tend to blow the starter relay in the fuse box. I've gone through 2 of them in 2 1/2 years. You can pick them up at the local dealer for 12.00. That's the cheapest thing I had to replace on a harley. LoL

The battery is connected, there is corrosion around the relay though.
