wow. you guys got me second guessing my visit. be my first one. not takin the sporty. using my vulcan since its water cooled(hear horror stories bout the HD overheating in that traffic). but if i gotta worry bout my bike being there everytime i go in somewhere dont think its worth that. hard to have fun with all that stress.
Going to Bike Week last March was so much fun for us. The anticipation of warmer temperatures, a great ride through an area we had never seen, weeks and weeks of planning. I grew up in Florida, but I was ready to see the coast again. Then that Saturday morning came, we were packed up and had to wait till around 11 to leave and even then it was 28 degrees. we went as far as Columbus, Ga. Next morning, our Sporties headed down U.S.27 and we crossed down through Albany and on into Florida to I-10 for a little interstate cruising, then off onto U.S. 90 at Live Oak so I could ride through my community college home at beautiful Lake City. Then down State Road 100 to St. Augustine and the motel. We had a great time and it's killing us right now as we are planning to wait for Biketoberfest in October to go down again. We met some nice riders there that we never would have met otherwise, drank some good beer at Boot Hill, watched some semi- nudes, had a good place to park just one block from Main Street, altogether we had a blast. The Sportsters just kept on rumbling along all the way back through Suches and Copperhill and then home. What a ride.
if i could make the trip to daytona i would in a second.. it would be kewl to go to the rally for 2 or 3 days.. but i would really go to watch the daytona 500...SWEET!!!!!!! GEAUX JR.!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Sumnc, I'm headed down with my little brother and my dad. Neither have been to bike week and it's been20+ years since I have been. We are trailering to Rockingham and ridding on from there. IM me with your location and stuff perhaps we can hook up. We are leaving Maryland on the 3rd and plan on being there on the 4th in the PM. Let me know though and any one else that wants to hook up are welcome. I can't offer any one a place to stay but South Orlando/Kissimmee has reasonable rates this time of year which is where we are staying.
Well as Äą lÄąve Äąn Turkey there Äąs no chance at the moment for me to joÄąn any of the nice events you guys have there Äąn the US but Äąn september Äą wÄąll try to go to the European bÄąke week Äąn AustrÄąa . WÄąll be my fÄąrst tÄąme but sm frÄąends of mÄąne that went there told me that Äąts really nÄące. ThÄąnk Äąts the largets event of the Year Äąn Europe. We wÄąll probably take the ferry from Turkey to Italy then rÄąde all across Italy to go to AustrÄąa . A frÄąend of mÄąne went there last year . A total of 15 days round trÄąp ( 4 days of event and the rest Äąn dÄąfferent cÄątÄąes ) he told me he spent 2000 $ everythÄąng Äąncluded . ( hotel + gas + shoppÄąng + eatÄąng + DRINKING + ferry ) .
