Im still contemplating the trip. It would be my first long ride ...My thinking is that I may be biting off a little more then I can chew. The other concern is time. I would only have a few days because of whats going on at work ..
But I did hit the web looking for a place to stay ... what you guys and gals think of this place ?
I have been pricing Daytona and frankly it's just too expensive for me... plus I hear the rally has really lost some of it's luster... have you considered Myrtle Beach Rally in the spring? much easier ride for you cheaper and I have been to it... IT ROCKS just my 2 cents
I was gunna go too,but can't get the time off. That's a long ride try and find someone with a trailer to get you down. Save your energy for all the parting. That resort is a nudist colony for female's only.LOL...
I'll be in Daytona this coming weekend for the Daytona 500. Alot of bikes there then too. As far as bike week goes, it's a lot easier to trailer and then ride then to drive down there. At least you have a place to keep your bike over night if you have a closed trailer.

Ah yes, Bike week in Daytona! Used to be a lot of fun, and to some extent it still is, just depends on your perspective I guess. Lots of trade-offs. For every minute of fun, you will have 1minute of setting in traffic or looking for a place to park. You willpay outrageous prices for hotel rooms and pray your bike or trailer doesn't get stolen as you sleep or have lunch. Lots of bikes to look at and some really interesting people to meet. Just about everybody that is anybody in the motorcycle industry will be there and have a booth or shop set up. You can visit with them or buy some of their products, provided you don't mind standing in line for an hour : ) I can see where the appeal is, but I just can't hang like I did when I was younger. I still go, but my strategy is to get there early and get the hell out before the previous nights party goers get up and ready for the night again. Since I live just up the road in Jacksonville, that works well. If I was coming in from the North, I would look into getting a motel in St. Augustine, or even Jacksonville for that matter. Takes me about 1.5 hours to get down there and the last 30 minutes of thatis the famous "Loop" (Old Dixie Highway)that everyone goes there to ride anyway. Its abour 45 minutes from St. Augustine, which is a beautiful place in its own right, lots to do there, and a very nice ride down A-1-A to Daytona, or you can buzz over to I-95 and blast on down.
Fourwords... Over priced ... Over rated ...
If you are into carnivals, lines, scalpers, and inflated costs; you will have a blast.
I suggest going to a steel horse rally that has top knotch bands, stay at a first class hotel, where they will guard your bike, and pocket the difference that you would of spentat Daytona Bike Week. You can order a Boot Hill Saloon tee shirt online, look at your neighbors *******, and save the traffic hassles of Daytona. Cheers

They will just steal the trailer (with the bikes in it) too...
I would recommend backing the trailer up to somethig solid and leaving it attached to your truck.
If you put Harleydecals all over it, you might as well have "come and get it" painted on the back.
That's why we trailer in in a Featherlight enclosed horse trailer with "Silver Creek Farm" lettered.
Cheers.

Hey man, I have a Patriot Guard brother, that lives just on the other side of the state line from you. He's very close to the Draggon. He's planning on riding his Sportster to Daytona, maybe you 2 could ride down together?
