I think you are on the right track looking at The Motor Company. Most kids today want the rice rockets to ride on (my 17 yr old son included!). Buy the Sporty and go easy. Just remember even if you want a big twin later on, do not get rid of the sporty! I went for the Road King and missed my sporty so much I had to buy another to satisfy my hunger. So now I have 2 and could not be happier!!!!

Hmm don't the pre-04 sportster have vibration problems? Besides i can't really buy bikes on this board since i'm in eastern canada, and while riding a harley from winsconsin or nevada to here sounds pretty romantic it's not really practical, hehehe.
