i have a 1995 sportster i bought recently my running lights work in front but the back ones do not blinkers work any help thanks this my first bike

what bulb model is it? 1156 or 1157?

Their not supposed to work as running lights.

the front are suppose to be on at all times...1157 dual filament bulb
you can buy different types of units to make the rears act as running, brake, and turn signal.

check out custom dynamics for parts

Hd sells a module that make your turn lights work as running ,brake lights and turn and also ,comes with red lens covers to replace the amber lens covers for around 60 bucks

Or you just get rid of the of the bigass OEM style turns in the rear and throw on some aftermarket three wire bullet signals. Then run tie both blue wires from the signals to the runnning light wire on the brake light. That's what I did with my '00.
