I have a 2000 1200 custom, just ordered v&h straightshots originals and s&s e carb, s&s teardrop air filter. I dont know much about carbs or jets and need to know what size jets to get so my pipes dont discolor, and can i grab these at a local harley dealer?
They usually don't have the right selection. I would order online once you figure out which jets your going to need. I suggest you get a handful of graduated sized jets so you can adjust and swap as you go. I would get as close to where you want you mixture before putting on your pipes if you want to minimize the bluing effect. You can get pretty close before putting on the good pipes, but I suggest you find a way to have your emissions 'sniffed' so you know when you very close. It's a time consuming task so don't get into a hurry. If you've never done it before you might want to find a reliable 'INDY' to help you or it could go south on you after awhile.
Why are you going with an S&S carb? Our stock carb is good up to about 100 HP with re-jetting. I'm still running my stock carb on my modified '00 sporty. As for blueing, all pipes will blue/discolor, but it's the heat sheilds that will not blue and gives you the good chrome look.

I agree 100% I think you are going backwards with that s and s carb. Besides, those pipes you bought are just cheap azz 1 3/4 drag pipes with a 2 1/4 heat sheild on the outside. Send the s and s back and tune the cv.
Most harley dealers dont have crap for jets since everything is fi. The s and s carb is a lot more difficult to tune than a factory carb or mikuni. I would def get it on the dyno after you tune it to see where your a/f ratio is. Heck, its hard to find a dyno guy or shop to tune a s and s carb anymore. im not trying to rain on your parade, just my opinions for you to consider or not. Good luck.
