I have a 2012 Nightster, Can someone please help on how many torque pounds are needed to tighten those torx bolts on the derby cover.. I heard they strip pretty easy...

Appreciate it.

I'd swap them out for regular allenheads, then tighten them gently with one hand. No Loctite on those either. If you use the torx, I believe they are T27, not T25.

96 inch/LBS or about 8 FT/lbs.
Make sure to use an INCH/lbs torque wrench as a FOOT/lbs wrench is not accurate down at 8 FOOT/lbs.

Remember if you oil or grease on the threads you have to reduce the torque used, this chart is a handy reference for the torque reduction.

I am sure they are the T27s ... I just dont wanna push too tight... but i tend to over tighten things... ive very skeptical when it comes to bolts n stuff... I went to buy a manual today, but they are out of stock here at my local dealership ..

You'll have to try harder than that.

That's what I'm doing whenever I have to take the derby off next time.
