Been looming all day on here for a members bike I saw a while back. Think it was a dyna but hell, I don't remember. Could have been a sportster or even a v rod.. Anyways looking for a curved lay down lic plate mount. The one I saw was damn near flush mount it looked. Very low and curved. Looked at kuryakn's site and didn't see the same one, joker machine doesn't have one.. any ideas?
The stock one is very easy to modify, just take it off and remove the rear bracket part and you can adjust it to any shape & position you like.
If I remember correctly I had to drill one hole to access the mounting screw in order to reinstall it.
I hacked off the angle piece from the factory bracket.
This is the piece you start with:
Cut it about here to remove the angle part:
Drill three holes to match the pattern in your fender into the bracket. Use this piece for a pattern:
I drilled two new holes in the bracket that the license plate bolts to about here (the license plate no longer bolts onto the bracket using the slots)
I placed three rubber grommets in the fender holes to lift the assembly off my fender and protect my paint. The telephone pole in front of my house is about the perfect radius. Massage your license plate, your newly fabricated bracket and 10 dollar chrome license frame into the desired radius. The bracket gets screwed to the fender. Then, I cut an allen wrench short to reach under the bracket to secure the license plate and chrome frame to the bracket using button head bolts (because the head is shallow) with some washers and big-*** acorn nuts on top. I put a towel between the fender and the bracket in case I got sloppy with the allen wrench during assembly. At night, the tail light provides adequate illumination.
I think it looks pretty good with a lay-down tail light. YMMV
My new plate:

I don't know how flush you want it or if you want it specifically on the back on the bike but I had this made for me. Although www.ledsled.com has a very similar setup, I just didn't wanna dish out $100 but theirs is cnc'd aluminum so it's worth it.
