Well, I finally got around to getting this issue resolved. I did narrow it down to the battery and took it back to the store for the second time, told them that it has voltage but it's not turning the motor over. They checked it out and agreed that the battery was defective and gave me a new one at no cost. Installed it and it fired right up.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

Sorry for letting this post drag out way longer than it needed to. The sporty is not my primary ride and I wasn't in that big of a hurry to get it fixed. Now that it is fixed though, I'm contemplating selling it. Just doesn't get the seat time that it should.
