2.6 % at Evolve Credit Union on mine, I dont know if they are in your state, I live in Texas
Harley wanted 7.5% out of me I told them give me a purchase order and walked out the door.
You should strongly consider saving up the cash to purchased a used bike. Lots of clean Sportsters out there for under $4,000 ... then you owe nobody a dime.
I just go my bike and HD FIN asked for 9.9%....i was like HELL NO. Then the Sales dude got me 7.3% from a local CU. Try the Credit Unions and shop around. Then refinance after 1 year of making on-time payments. Like everyone said - you'll get a better rate later. I know I will after 8 months
Back in 94' I was looking to buy a Harley and I had the same problem, my credit score was in the 600's so high interest was my only option. A friend told me to save my money and go in with a heavier down payment, so I had to wait tell 95' tell I had the funds saved up and that time instead of only having 1k for a down I had $5000, I rode off with my first Harley with a somewhat low interest. I had basically the same credit score but was only borrowing half of the cost of the bike.
You can offset the credit score by borrowing less on a new bike, the lenders don't want to be holding a bike that is worth less than their owed, most people that are going default on a loan do it in the first year and lenders know this so by going in with a heavier down payment you are taking most of the "potential" loss off of the lending institution therefore dropping the interest rates. As another poster stated after making 12 months of on-time payments you can refinance at a lower interest rate if needed.
24% is crazy man...I know they were financing at rates better than that a couple weeks ago during Thunderbeach, cause I had 2 friends end up with new bikes while we were down. i guess Gary's already trying to payoff that big *** store
right now my credit union is 3.45% for 2009+ For 60 months. even better deal for less months and newer models down to like 1.99% for new 24 months. really thinking of buy a used street glide before rates rise.
Well the other dealership offered me a 2013 superlow for $8,990 out the door and 16.25%. I called back the other dealer and he said he had no idea how he could do that and will call me back. Called back and said he can do the same thing no problem. He claimed he misread the interest rate and did not know he could deal on the price . OK sure.
I ended up applying at a credit union today and got approved for 7.99%
