Default Another bag question.

Hey folks,

So I just got a new paint job (post/pic about that coming soon).

So I'm not real jazzed at the concept of putting my saddle bags back on and covering up a lot of the paint.
Also I did some other make over items and the bike is sportier now and I'm not sure the bags would look quite right.

But I do need SOME type of solution for carrying things.
I'm using a backpack now, but would like to have an on-bike solution.

I've thought about a solo bag, but my bike has passenger pegs (in the off chance my wife wants me to throw the pillion on and go for a ride.)
My understanding is that passenger pegs pretty much mean a solo bag is not an option.
Is that right?

Any ideas for a nice way to cary a few things on an otherwise sporty bike?

Thanks!

I have the Lick's solo bag and it doesn't cover the passenger peg, but it does make it difficult for the passenger to reach with her foot. I got some extended bolts and rigged it up so the peg sticks out further, and now we're gtg.

The solo bag holds a few tools and a cargo net, so I can just strap something to the seat if I need to carry it.

The solo bag from Harley is another option, but like the post above you have to get a little creative. Some spacers, and flipping over the bracket makes the passenger peg useable

I have a Rich Phillips solo bag and also extended the left side passenger peg. I put my lunch in there for work or a sweatshirt on the weekend. Bungy cords in case I where my coat in the morning and its hot later.

good stuff guys thanks.

Bungy cords are an option of course but those tend to scratch paint and I don't want to scuff up my new tins.

@mjolnir - which model of licks back is that?
Is it this one?

I'd love to have enough space to cram a jack in there, but even something I could put a lunch in would suffice.

I like the T-bags model made specifically for Sportsters. They provide a clear film to protect the paint on your fender or you can strap it to the solo rack like on mine. It sits relatively flat but expands upward about 3 inches if you need more room. I have really enjoyed mine. I am not a big fan of saddle bags because, to me, they ruin the trim lines of the Sporty and hide my rear suspension, but to each his own.

You can see mine in my signature photo. Good luck in your search.
