Gas Light problem
I have an 05 883. I never had my gas light come on, even with low gas. In fact I have run out before with no light. When I turn the bike on and all the lights come on, the gas light does not light. Is there a bulb that could be burnt out, or a fuse? In fact I never knew I had a low fuel light until today when I had my bike in the sun at the right angle I could make out the gas light on the spedometer. Any body know where to start? Can I take the speedo apart and change the bulb?

Correct on it being used on other models that do. You have a petcock on your gas tank. That petcock valve when turned to normal operating position feeds fuel to the carb. When you run out of gas in that position you turn it to the "reserve" position and you have another, approximately, 1.5 gal. of fuel to get you to a gas station. When you fill up again, make sure you flip the valve back to normal position. And when you park your bike for a long time, overnight or more, make sure you turn it to the off position.
