hello, my 1990 883 hugger has a loose speedo. Is it a friction fit in the mounting bracket or do I need to remove the chrome back[2 acorn nuts] and tighten it up from inside. The issue is it torques to the right I believe from the turning of the speedo cable. Just annoying thats all. thanks for the help
My speedo was misaligned too. One side of the cushion was collapsed and the speedo face was a bit skewed. I think your setup is identical to mine.
First, disconnect your speedo cable. My 1991 has a rubber cushion the speedo fits into. Take off the two acorn nuts, the chrome piece, and the speedo housing comes off. You can then work the old cushion out and install a new one, should solve your problem.
I think a new cushion was about $10 at the stealer, but I forget. I just did mine about a year ago, it was really easy. Plus, I painted the speedo housing with some nice hammer black finish.
