Default Kickstand Lean?

Hi All,
When I rode my bike yesterday Inoticed that the kickstand seems to lean down further than when I first got the bike. I climbed underneath to look and there is a slot about an inch long where a metal pin slides once the kickstand is on the ground. Until yesterday I never felt the kickstand move after it first hit the ground, but now I can definitely see and feel it go down another inch when the full weight is on it. Is this something I should be concerned about? It looks like it was designed to do this, but it wasn't doing it until yesterday. As far as I can tell there is nothing to tighten down there. The metal pin is held in place only by a cotter pin. Does this all sound normal?

Here's a Pic

Also, on every bike I've owned but this one the kickstand was in a forward position when down. On this bike it is almost straight out from the side of the bike.

I'd say you're fine. My bike leaned that extra inch straight from the dealer.

Thanks guys. Hopefully you're right. I have this fear of walking in the garage and my bike is on it's side all dented and scratched up.

I believe that sliding pin you're talking about is the kickstand lock. It prevents someone from accidentally kicking the kick stand up and knocking the bike over, or if it's on an incline, the weight of the bike won't cause the kick stand to retract.Once you sit on the bike and bring it up, the pin slides back down and allows the kick stand to retract.I think you're fine dude.

I just replaced the short stand with a regular stand on my 1200R. Please take a close look at the brass bushings on the top and bottom of the pin. On mine, they both show signs of significant wear ( my 1200R is an '05 w/ 7500 miles).
BTW, the shop manual calls for cleaning and lube of the pin mechanism every 5k miles.
