Recently bought an '04 1200C. Love this thing (its my second 1200C..previously had an '06, went to a dyna...then back). Anyway...previous owner put a ton of accessories on it. All are hd. I didnt get a list or any records so...I'm working through some discovery here.
Just realized I have a turn/brake/run module but, the "run" doesnt seem to operate. Is there such a thing as a Turn/Brake only mod or is something wrong here...?
Pull the bulbs and check to see if they are dual filament bulbs. I think the RBT kit switches to those. Also check that both filaments are intact. I know that if one of the filaments are blown the system will act funny. Happened on my 06 SG. This is speculation only but hope it helps!
The very first versions of the "RBTs" were actually just "BT"s (Brake and Turn). The newer versions added the run feature but many people complained that the difference between the run and the brake illumination was not enough to be an effective attention-getter. Look at the wiring closely between the module and it's plugs. If it's not cut or otherwise tampered with, you probably have an original version. if the wiring looks like its been fooled with they probably did the "mod" which essentially converts it to the older style.
If you have one of the early styles, they are highly coveted. Don't trash it! Several forum members would buy it off you quickly I'm sure.
If you are looking for a visually effective RBT Module, the one made by Custom Dynamics called the "Triple Play" is probably the most functional out there w/ a handsome 5 year warranty. Works with LEDs or plain ole' bulbs.
Just Got Home And Did A Quick Check By Removing The Lenses. I've Got Standard Single Filament Bulbs. IsThat Likely My Issue...?
Could be or like was said you have the old style module and that is why you have single filament bulbs in there. You can try a duel filament buld if you like, but not sure it will help.

The aux run brake turn module works to equalize the LED draw since they pull less juice. The original owner may have had LEDs that they pulled out. The module should be sitting under your seat plugged into the rear lighting wiring harness. Can you see what the part is, would be easier to figure out.
Also the issue VCM mentioned with some didnt like the running lights pertained to filament bulbs not LEDs. But he's right they would have had to splice the module wiring to stop the running lights option so definately check how it is connected. The double or mono filament bulbs I don't think should matter if the module is working correctly.
Did some more checking on this. Removed the module but, there arent any markings on it. Doesnt appear to be any splices or mods to the wiring. I'll guess that i must have the old style module. Gonna buy some red lenses and run it as is. Thanks guys for all the help!
