Question Bar question

I'm usually in the softail forum but I need some advice from you guys on this side of the forum for my wife's nightster.

I want to take her stock bars and turn them upside down so that the bends go down. In essence turning them into really low drag bars.

I was wondering if anyone has done this since I have a few questions.

Just by eyeballing the project I see a problem with rotating the bars. One of them is I'm not sure how the front brake master cylinder is going to fit on the bars once they are turned upside down being that im pretty sure the bars have that dent in them to accommodate the master cylinder. So once the bars are upside down I'm not sure how the cylinder is going to bolt back on there.

As far as the wiring goes, I don't think it should be a problem. The wires run on the outside of the bars so i can just zip tie them on to the bars once I flip the bars.

I can't really think of anything else right now (been a long day).

Anyone have anything for me ?

The dent in the bars isn't for the master cylinder it's for the wires since sportster bars aren't internally wired the wires tuck in there then the switches fit over them. Not sure that you'd have a problem but I have to ask the following:

Is your wife going to like this? They don't seem comfortable done that way.

I also have to ask: are you doing this for you or your wife?! I also can't help thinking the riding position would be darned uncomfortable with stock footrests.

Hi guys. Thanks for the replies. Ofcourse my wife is on board for the project. I told her she is going to be leaning ALOT when we make the change on the bars but she doesn't care, she still wants to try it. Plus it's a breeze to turn the bars down and it would be a breeze to turn them back to stock if she doesn't like it. She likes working on the bike with me so it's no biggie.

We put forward controls on the bike which might actually make the ridding position a little tougher.

Anyway, thanks Superfly for clearing the dent on the bars for me. This is the first sportster ill be working on so I'm not familiar with it.

looks weird to me but hey whatever floats ur boat lol
bars are waaaaay cheap enough to just buy

i think clip on bars is our next option.
