I'm in the market for a small windshield just to take some pressure off the chest while highway riding. But I'm unsure which would look better or function better, also is there any other types that may suit my needs?.
If you have pics that would be great also, thanks
I've ridden behind a wide variety of windshields since the 60s and my experience is that at speed air is pretty sneaky stuff! As a rule and despite what windshield makers will have us all believe, it will take the shortest route past whatever you ride behind. If you use a windshield that is chest high, the wind will hit you in the chest, so if you want to take pressure off your chest, get a windshield as big as your chest!
Wind pressure on chest is dramatically reduced - only starts getting bad after 70-75 mph.
Same with buffeting around the helmet (I wear a Shoei FF) - tweaked the angle a couple of times and now its pretty good as well.
Looks good - as near "invisible" as possible.
Easy install and removal.
CON:
Not really a substitute for a taller shield for long distance rides though - did a 800 miler some weeks back, and sustained highway speeds does make you want to consider an HD QD.
I use the National Cycle Flyscreen in darker tint. I painted the chrome strip gloss black (used chrome etcher on it first...both from Lowes).
Probably one of the best mods I have done. I had a 16" windshield. It was good. However, big...to me it took away the sporty look.
The flyscreen is a nice compromise. I wrote a review on it on XL FORUM. I ride 100 miles a day to/from work on highways and freeways averaging 65-70 Mph.
I wear a HJC SYMAX III Modular helmet. I get no wind hitting the chest and no helmet buffeting (or minor depending).
IF I was going to be on the freeway at 70 Mph for hours, I would use my 16" shield, but...then again...maybe not.
I had the HD shield it sucked. I bought a Spitfire similar to the one shown above and it sucked. Sure it took wind off your chest but you get horrible buffeting so it was a crappy ride and better to go without a shield. I finally settled on a Memphis Shades replacement plastic for my HD QD hardware and all though not perfect , driving 75 down the interstate its very acceptable with very little annoying buffeting. I either have it off or on there is real no middle ground with windshields on HDs.

I completely agree. Here is a pic of my flyscreen. Although I really want to change the chrome strip to black
