Certainly look at the suggested options first but if all else fails....there are adjustable brake and clutch levers that reduce the reach that, according to people I know have installed these, makes it much easier to manhandle a tough clutch. Not a cheap option for sure but something to consider.

Those look pretty neat but I don't really have a problem with the reach of the stock levers just how tough the clutch is. So not sure they would solve my issue.
have you lubed the cable?? give that a whirl see if it helps any ?
i have the stock one from my 2012
not sure it will work 100% but the cable sure looks almost the same to me.. and is in brand new/used shape --- used only because it was on there for 400 miles if that lol
and may work alot smooooooother for you ?
could make a world of differ
i have the diamond braided ones from harley holy crap they are smooooooooth as babies butt..
Just installed a Barnett clutch cable when I added my mini apes a couple months ago. So at least I know the cable is good and lubed as well.
I've read some negative comments about the Muller in the link you sent, which they do make for a 99, did your friend have any issues with clutch adjustment after installing it?
my bike is 2002 883r sportster, I bought the ebay kit at first, I read a lot of people had great experience with it but not me, when I installed it in my bike, it was grinding the bottom of the primary and couldn't move at all, so I decided to buy the muller easy clutch, and I had no problem installing it and it works great, and I use barnett clutch cable by the way, i hope it helps
How much better is the Muller over stock? And was the ebay kit that you had the one from Easypullclutch.net? I also have a barnett cable installed and a 99 so yours is probably the closest to my setup for reference. I like the idea of the Muller but didn't want to spend the money unless I know it would work. I also saw a lot of negative reviews about it being hard to almost impossible to adjust and tune the clutch in perfectly to work with the Muller? Did you have any issues with clutch adjustment after you installed it?
My personal experience with the muller easy clutch is great! I had no problem installing it, just like a regular clutch adjustment, and it works great! it makes pulling the clutch a lot easier. It just works for me, and yes I bought my easy pull kit from easypullclutch.net , I took couple attempts in trying to make it work with the easy pull kit but it just doesn't work, and I even took it to a dealer and see if the tech could make it work. But that's my story, the easy pull kit works for some people, but it just didn't work for my bike, and after buying the muller easy pull, it makes pulling the clutch a lot easier, hope it helps

he never has any issue with adjustment, and its crazy how easy it is to pull .
They seem to work OK on a stock clutch in my experience.
I have not been able to make the same kit work however, with the SE clutch pack which doesn't have the Spring Plate. I could never eliminate clutch drag with it installed.
I have the same one, and it works good for me - stock clutch plate. It just took a little tweaking to get it adjusted just right - I think by increasing the arm length, you aren't turning the clutch quite as much with the pull of the lever, which made it finicky to adjust just right. I suspect this is the same reason you could not completely eliminate clutch drag.
OP, if you have stock clutch plates, the ebay kit should do the trick. Mine is so easy to pull its hard to tell that I'm actually engaging & disengaging the clutch. The Muller kit does look to be a better product though in that its a one piece design as opposed to the easy pull extension.

Understood, but two of the folks I was referring to could not get an ezpull for their particular bikes and found that these levers offered an alternate solution because reducing the reach (although neither really needed it) gave them greater leverage and made the clutch pull easier overall (less distance to pull and starting from a tighter grip position). I'm sure you'll find something that works for your bike!
