I'm not even sure how I got mine to work with the caliper on the bike. I broke a vacuum pump and a cheaper bleed kit trying, though. What ended up working was the business-end of a windex bottle, some clear tubing, and a lot of beer.

By contrast I recently installed a new calliper and braided hose on my bike, bled it a few times the old fashioned way, expecting to have to get down to it and the darned thing was done. I don't recall ever having such instant success and certainly haven't since! There is no certainty in my long experience when it comes to bleeding bl33ding brakes!

Speed Bleeders are so simple yet so awesome. www.speedbleeders.com. For 7 bucks a wheel you cant beat the ability to bleed any break caliper without an assistant. I used to get a real hard functional front brake and spongy on occasion. I installed new DOT5 as the original brake fluid was 2006 and all is normal. I've had 100,000+ mile cars and trucks never changing the brake fluid and it worked perfectly fine. Guess its a DOT5 thing.

I have an 04 XLC and had hell after rebuilding my master cylinder gettingthe air bubbles out of the lines, it took a couple of days worth of bleedingthe lines. Just a reminder to only use DOT 5 (purple) on the 04 XLC, I thinksome of the other year XL's take the DOT 4 (not entirely sure on this, but itseems like I’ve read that someplace).
