2000 883 getting up to 58mpg here. Drag pipes, otherwise stock. I usually don't get beyond 60mph, and am usually cruising around at 50-55mph.

I've always gotten exception mileage from Sportsters and Buells (sporty based engine).
My carb'd 883c would return me 53-ish during my normal commute and got just over 60 on open 2-lanes.

I rode my XB12R on a 1500mi trip and got at least 1/2dozen fillups in the 60-63mpg range. My worst tank of the entire trip was going through Deals Gap and I got 53 that time. Running 85-90mph in Alabama got me right at 60mpg.
I've owned 3 XB's (ridden 2 of them extensively-the 3rd was flipped for a profit) and that mileage was typical for all of them.

I don't know what Harley has done with the Sporty engine but it is BY FAR the most frugal engine I've ever ridden on top of.

I wish I got that kind of mileage. I get 36 city and 45 highway. 1200 though... Still most people seem to get better than I do.

My 1200, efi , stock delivers 48 open road at 80mph but at 60mph it gets 56mpg. Take your pick.

The gas mileage is what keeps me a sportster owner. Otherwise I would own an f6b with 36mpg.
