If your gonna steal the windshield why not steal the bike. Bike theft in major cities is a common occurence these days. I refuse to live in a city and my bike is in my garage every night in my country home. A heavy duty zip tie would make it impossible to remove without tools which in every aspect is a decent deterrent in most situations of the quick hit and run thief.

Thanks...I've struggled with this for years and always feel uncomfortable when the bike is out of site...the lock HD provides doesn't work on many models including mine...this would and will create a time delay that would draw attention...although not full proof...sometimes we overlook the simple answer...

I don't live in a place or do I put my bike in a position for stuff to be stolen off of it. We don't have to lock our doors in this neck of the woods per say. I'd definitely lock her down if I was a city dweller though.

Sorry to revive an old thread. I have an FLD and had the same question. Buying more insurance (with a deductible?) or standing guard over the bike with a handgun is obviously not a solution. Harley makes some locks but none for my application. What I did is to simply drill two small holes near the upper engagement slot adjacent to where the wire retainer loop is. I can slip a small padlock into that hole and the retainer loop and that secures the windshield. I keep the keys locked in my saddlebag along with the keys to my trunk docking hardware, only because I hate carrying a pound of keys around with me.

Granted if someone really wants it bad enough, they could simply use a socket wrench and torx to remove the mounts, but at least it keeps honest thieves honest.
