I have a stupid question, i bought a 2000 1200c sportster and have obtained the owners manual from the previous owner, the question i have is the manual says 1200xlh on the cover but yet it covers the custom what exactly is the xlh and is this the description of all sportsters and then it goes from there? Like i said stupid question...
Not too stupid a question, can get a little tongue tied for sure. Seems all manufactures could spell out their models so aaverage consumer could understand.
I have a 2000 XL1200C including the HD owners manual and a repair manual (not in front thismoment, I'm at work). Both cover the Sportster family of XLH Evolution Models as I interpret it, such as:
2000; XLH883 (Hugger), XL883S/C(Sport/Custom); XL1200S/C (Sport/Custom) or something very close. and that my manuals would guide to my model, the Custom, when necessary. the banner news in 2000 wasthe disc brakes were"upgradedwith 4-piston calipers, are positive and progressive without being grabby" Ya Ho! Old news now but what the hey, They are still a work-in-progress.
Have fun and ride safe
Hey brauny i actually need rear brakes and have a question maybe u can help where u have the service manual, the caliper most likely splits with the 3 torx bolts but will i have to bleed the system after splitting the calier does it cause the fluid to leak out? Or can i just compress the caliper and place the pad in iy any help in the progress of rear brake pad replacement would be greatly appreciated
