im struggling to decide on what size fork tubes to go for on my 883 superlow. ive installed a 3 degree raking kit and am constantly bottoming out with the stock forks.
im want to go with the 2" over but everyone keeps saying 4 ( which i think will look odd on a small bike)
And will the new forks have longer damper rods? Thats what limits your travel. Do a search for a trail calculator, use it to determine your trail, you can also use it for what ifs (changing fork tube length)
Don't forget that he's going to use Raked triple Trees ... In some cases 2" over tubes will bring the bike back ( real close ) to it's stance/height before the raked trees were installed. This was the case on my 1976 XLCH ... I used "Forks by Frank" 2" over tubes with raked trees and it came out perfect ... Just my .02 cents worth "AlPal"
with 3 degree raked trees mreed suggestion sounds like the easiest way to see what length you need. I've heard that with 5 degree you should run 4" over & that you can run 2" over with stock trees.
Are you looking to get the forks out further or the bike up higher?
