We're planning on operating a mate of mines Sporty next weekend. Exhaust wrap and some spray work. One of which is the Derby Cover. Did you have any oil issues when removing the Derby Cover. From what I've seen it is best to keep the bike upright or tilted to the opposite side. Is this the best way to go?

Yes, keep the bike as upright and aligned as possible. No issues w leaks or anything. Just some minor oil around the derby and inspection cover which you can easily take care of with an oil rag, just clean up the area, paint your derby and inspection cover, re-install, your done. I used Krylon flat black w primer combined paint, for metal of course. Other pain options available too, however, since this was my first time doing things I didn't spend a lot on the paint because if I screwed it up it would of been an expensive screw up... The object is to start slow, learn and re do if needed.. Post pics once your done!

Also, forgot to mention that I use a portable type bike stand, not my regular bike stand. I have 2 stands to work on the bikes, the bigger stand doesn't fit so I had to use the my small stand which is hand cranked, raised it enough to stand up the bike upright, level... Done!

Thanks man. I used a normal can of Hi Heat Spray Paint. Resistant up 350 degrees celsius. Just sanded down the chrome with P800 waterproof paper and sprayed 4 - 5 thin layers at a time. At this point I've done the exhaust, heat shields, headlight rim and inspection cover.
