Default 883 DeerSlayer

60 mph on an entrance ramp 7:00pm Friday night. From out of the ditch a deer came at full run head down. I have that image burned into my brain forever. He hit the front left and exploded like a bomb went off, thought it ripped my leg off. I got the bike to the right side almost lost it in the gravel then stopped in the grass on a slight slope I tried to put the side stand down with my hand but I couldn't find it it was covered in guts. I was in extreme pain. I turned the bike off and got the 4way flashers on. My son in law had been right in front of me had now turned around and helped me off the bike. Blood and guts were covering every inch of the bike. Front wheels looks bent, Rotors bent, front brake looks crooked . Engine guard bent way back Hiway peg bent back. Saddlebags smell so bad I bet there not good. I had blood IN my boot and my helmet. I thought it was mine. It was not and I will heal. I don't think my ankle is to bad, just swelled up, It's not broke (I think). I just wanted to share this with people who would hopefully understand my pain.
And NOW I"M glad I ride with gear.
Ride safe.
Jerry

Thank you I could have been so much worse. It did knock me into the right side of the lane. Least I didn't loose control and lay it down or flip it.

Lucky fellow...I have to be alert every night as I ride home from work in the dark. Deer are everywhere here, even in the city. Good practice to not be lulled by the presence of lights, traffic or buildings in the city...the littlest patch of cover will hold deer. I watch a dozen of them nightly between a Waffle House and the Interstate while drinking coffee.

60mph on an entrance ramp...... With an 883! Not buying it.

Jokin aside, good to hear all you got was some guts on ya. They make new bikes everyday, there is only one Tutorman883. Glad to hear the rubber side stayed down the entire time. That is some mad riding skills right there, on top of getting that tiny 883 to 60 on the on ramp. If at any time you remember what you did to stay on both wheels do share. We could all use some pointers on how to do that.

had deer whistles on all my cars when i lived in Oregon they either didn't work or the deer in Oregon were deaf cause they still ran/jumped out in front of me all the time. Glad we don't have deer here in Bakersfield. All I got to watch for is stupid drunks walking in the middle of the road. Glad you weren't hurt worse than you were hope the insurance covers your damage to the bike
