Being that k&n uses a cotton element I would say any mild dish soap or detergent would be fine. Its been a long time since I have ran an oiled filter, but remember the cleaner always ran out before oil since you don't need much oil anyway. I just swapped my se filter to k&n so curious to see what works best.
I was thinking of Simple Green too, but with the Dawn recommendations, I think I'll go with that this go round. Plus, I happen to have a bottle left over from camping this summer.
What mix of Dawn/water do you all recommend?
Thanks to all for the great advice.

I would try about a plastic bottle cap with a 16oz spray bottle. Maybe not quite fill cap full and add a drop or 2 if not soapy enough. If using a degreaser especially simple green I would dilute it some unless it is already diluted. I have a gallon jug of it. Would try 2 parts water to one part simple green and see how that works. Like 4oz simple green to 8 oz water.
